I have been teaching flute lessons in Marin County since 2001. I teach at my private studio in Corte Madera and at my home in Novato. Lessons are $40 for half hour, $60 for 45 minute and $80 for an hour. I have taught students as young as age 7 up to middle school, high school, college level and adult. My students always end up with a lifetime of enjoyment from playing the flute, exploring the vast and wonderful repertoire, and making music together.

Additionally, my students have advanced to local, state, national, and international awards and honors, including: National Flute Association (NFA) High School Competition Soloist Finalist, The Sir James Galway International Flute Festival (Switzerland) masterclass soloist performer, Tanglewood, Curtis, Juilliard, Peabody summer festival performers, California State Honor Bands, and Bay Area concerto soloists with the orchestras of YPSO, MSYO, OYO, SF Conservatory of Music Prep, the Marin Symphony Orchestra, and the Prometheus Symphony.

During the lessons, students will develop skills on the flute including acquiring a beautiful tone, proper hand position, varied articulation, breath control, and dynamic ability.  Students will also develop strong skills of reading music, developing good rhythm, and become familiar with a broad range of stylistic performance elements. There are various opportunities for students to perform if desired, including recitals, community performances, honor bands, and youth symphony programs.

My students currently perform in, or have performed in: Marin Symphony Youth Orchestra, Marin County Honor Band, Northern California Honor Band, California All State Honor Band, National Flute Association High School Finalist, San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra, Young People’s Symphony Youth Orchestra, Oakland Youth Orchestra, Curtis Institute Summer Fest, Oberlin Summer Academy, Juilliard Winds, Boston University Institute Tanglewood, Yale Symphony Orchestra, Carnegie Hall Honors Performer.
