Congratulations to Maya for winning the 31st Annual Prometheus Symphony Khuner Young Artist Competition! Maya worked with me for almost 2 years preparing the entire Nielsen Concerto from memory. She is the only flutist to have won the competition in its 31 year history. Last year, Maya performed the Mozart D Major Flute Concerto with the Marin Symphony and also won Marin Music Chest’s 2019 Alma Tomlinson most outstanding performer award, including the Senior Division scholarship prize. She also plays flute and piccolo in the Marin Symphony Youth Orchestra and has been the principal flutist of the California All State Junior Honor Band. Go Maya!!
My student Amelia traveled to Weggis, Switzerland upon the special invitation of Sir James and Lady Galway to attend the 2019 Flute Festival 30th Anniversary. She went to workshops, classes, performed in flute choir, and played in a solo masterclass with Lady Galway.
Congratulations to Savanna for winning the biennial College of Marin Young Artist Concerto Competition. Savanna worked so hard on the Ibert Flute Concerto 1st movement and gave a knock-out audition performance! Savanna will perform the Ibert from memory with the College of Marin Symphony on their upcoming May concert. See video link for the awesome performance!!
