I have been teaching flute lessons in Marin County since 2001. I teach at my private studio in Corte Madera and at my home in Novato. I have taught students as young as age 7 through middle school, high school, college level and adult. My students always end up with a lifetime of enjoyment from playing the flute, exploring the vast and wonderful repertoire, and making music together.
During the lessons, students will develop skills on the flute including acquiring a beautiful tone, proper hand position, varied articulation, breath control, and dynamic ability. Students will also develop strong skills of reading music, developing good rhythm, and become familiar with a broad range of stylistic performance elements. There are various opportunities for students to perform if desired, including recitals, community performances, honor bands, and youth symphony programs.
My flute students have been accepted to the following organizations: The Juilliard School, Eastman School of Music, Boston University Institute Tanglewood, Yale Symphony Orchestra, Marin Symphony Youth Orchestra, Marin County Honor Band, Northern California Honor Band, California All State Honor Band, National Flute Association Convention Performer, San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra, San Francisco Conservatory Prep, Young People’s Symphony Youth Orchestra, Oakland Youth Orchestra, Curtis Institute Summer Fest, Oberlin Summer Academy, Juilliard Winds. Further, Concerto Competition winners and soloists with the orchestras of YPSO, MSYO, OYO, the Marin Symphony, and the Prometheus Symphony, Marin Music Chest winners, and Sir James Galway Summer Festival in Switzerland.
